In this year’s legislative session, AIA along with LAGC and ACEC, re-wrote the Public Bid Law. The partnership met with over 40 public owners to ask for their input into the law changes and to accommodate some of their concerns. In an effort to educate our industry on the changes, we will be going around the state with a Public Bid Law seminar over the next few months. Steven Loeb, with Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, has put together an excellent presentation explaining the numerous changes. These seminars will include the architects, engineers, and local officials that you work with every day. The dates and lo- cations of seminars are as follows:
SHREVEPORT | November 18 : Bossier Community College Theater (6220 East Texas Street, Bossier City, LA 71111)
MONROE | November 19 : ULM School of Construction Management (700 University Avenue, Monroe, LA 71209)
ALEXANDRIA | December 2 : Best Western (2720 N. MacArthur Dr, Alexandria, LA 71303)
All seminars will be held 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., earning 4 HSW/CEH/LU and the cost to attend is $50 for members and $75 for non-members. All attendees from Public Agencies will be admitted for free. On-site registration begins at 8:00 a.m.
The new bid law is already being implemented so please take this chance to educate the individuals within your company on the changes. You can register by going to www.lagc.org/bidlaw.
