16th Annual Celebrate Architecture Design Symposium

Celebrate Architecture 2015 - poster heading
EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE :  THURSDAY, MARCH 5, 2015

Friday, March 13th | We’ve assembled a compelling group of speakers, so join over 250 of your fellow architects and students from across the state at the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge. Our four speakers will begin the morning session by presenting an overview of each of their firm’s work. The afternoon session follows and allows each speaker to delve deep into a single project; describing the inception, design process, and resolution.  It promises to be a day of architectural inspiration, a chance to interact with colleagues, and have a little fun in the process.

We hope that you will take the opportunity to join your colleagues from across the state, for a day of architectural inspiration and interaction as our compelling group of speakers shares their respective design processes and experiences. We have a great lineup of guest architects you won’t want to miss.

Marlon Blackwell, FAIA

Working outside the architectural mainstream, Marlon Blackwell’s architecture is based in design strategies that draw upon vernaculars and typologies, and the contradictions of place; strategies that seek to transgress conventional boundaries for architecture. Marlon serves as Distinguished Professor and Department Head in the Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas. In recent years, Marlon Blackwell Architects has been the recipient of three National AIA Honor Awards. The significance of Marlon’s contributions to design is evidenced by being named a United States Artists Ford Fellow 2014 and selected for the 2012 Architecture Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
