AIA LA ’20 Conference on Architecture Goes Virtual

After much discussion, research, and consideration with respect to Member needs, current contract requirements as well as governmental directives, AIA Louisiana has made the decision to take the 2020 Conference to a virtual format.  We respect that the conference may not be your standard conference experience for those that love attending each year, and we will certainly miss that face-to-face interaction and networking that is so incredibly valuable; however, ….the conference will not be your “standard” experience either! We invite you to join us in this experimentation of a different approach for this year. Look ahead for great continuing education sessions, intriguing ways to connect, varied sponsorships, and ways to share a variety of information! We hope you’ll join us for the whole shebang with an “All Access Pass” allowing you to join in a multitude of “fun”; however, you’ll also have the option to catch sessions individually if needed instead.

There is still a wealth of information that needs to be worked out, so please be patient with the committee as well as the office as we move forward. In the meantime, feel free to check out a few of the FAQ’s below….

When will Conference be held?
Over the course of a few days with an abbreviated scheduled, September 23-25, 2020.

Will continuing education hours still be available?

Yes. You will need to register to attend a session as well as actually log-in/view each one you want credit for at the time it is scheduled to take place. The system will track registered individuals as well as which individuals are logged in for the session.

Can my firm/company still sponsor and/or support the conference?

Absolutely! There will be a new information packet available here ASAP, so please check back for access to that.

When will registration open?

Soon! Once the revised structure is completed, we will issue a link and will also post that here.

What will happen to Honor Awards?

The awards program will still take place. However, this year, firms will not be required to format or print the boards (one-time potential budget savings for firms!). Hard-copy boards will not be required. Voting for Members’ Choice will still take place and further details on that will be released soon. This will all be handled virtually in some way. One other change is that the DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED, so you now have until Friday, June 26th to get your projects signed up.

What will happen to the other awards such as Fellowship, Newly Licensed, Medal of Honor, Patron of Architecture, Professional Achievements, etc.?

Those are still moving forward as well, so be sure to get your submissions in for any that are still open!
