Traditional Vernacular Architecture in Creole Natchitoches/Cane River (15 HSWs)

The Louisiana Architecture Foundation, with the Louisiana Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art and the National Center of Preservation, Technology and Training present three-and-half days of scheduled tours, seminars and social events in the heart of Louisiana’s Cane River Country, with the upcoming Traditional Vernacular Architecture in Creole Natchitoches – Natchitoches and Cane River. The package tour weekend begins Thursday, Oct. 31, and includes tours of Natchitoches’ Historic District, Yucca (Melrose) Plantation, historic St. Augustine Catholic Church and many more landmarks. Special group rates available at the Chateau St. Denis Hotel in Natchitoches. Lecture topics – presented by an array of cultural and architecture experts – will cover such topics as Creole building techniques, vernacular furniture, Creole landscape design and the culture, itself. FIFTEEN (15) HSW CREDITS WILL BE OFFERED FOR THIS EVENT.
